Welcome to Year 3 of Quantum Days – Canada’s national conference that brings together our growing quantum community from academia, industry, and government. We are poised to build on the success of the previous two conferences and expand our vibrant quantum ecosystem by showcasing innovative research, facilitating networking, and collaborations across sectors, and discussing initiatives to mobilize Canada’s National Quantum Strategy.
This year we are hosting the conference online to allow maximum access to participants across Canada. The conference will include keynote and invited talks by world-renowned scientists and thought leaders, panel discussions on policy and entrepreneurship, poster sessions by delegates from across Canada and the world, a career fair, networking opportunities and an industry showcase.
2022 has been a big year for quantum science. This year we celebrate Canada’s Gilles Brassard who was awarded the Breakthrough Prize for his foundational work in quantum information, along with Charles Bennett, David Deutsch and Peter Shor. The 2022 Nobel Prize in physics also recognized quantum scientists Alain Aspect, John Clauser and Anton Zeilinger for their ground-breaking contributions to quantum information science and experimental studies of entanglement and nonlocality. We celebrate their incredible achievements along with the work of Dr. Wu Chien-Shiung – the woman who first confirmed correlations of entangled photons in experiments.
As we build our quantum community in Canada, we pledge to create an equitable, inclusive, accessible environment where all conference delegates can participate freely without discrimination or harassment. We value an open exchange of ideas and diverse perspectives, and we will work to provide a forum that ensures respectful interactions. We acknowledge the long-standing systemic barriers and inequities that still exist in science, and we are committed to creating a conference that will help address these issues both now and in the future. We invite all participants to help us achieve these goals by committing to the Quantum Days Delegate Commitment to Respect & Inclusion.
Join us and help build Canada’s quantum ecosystem. See you at Quantum Days 2023!
